At home with Mary Bacon
Mary Bacon, personal trainer and nutritional cleansing coach will be speaking at this years Canada Bay Wellness Expo – giving advice on how to lower our bodies’ toxicity.
Are you a big cook?
Yes, absolutely. I love cooking a variety of dishes.
Who is your favourite person to have a bit of a feast with?
Mom and Dad. They always love my new inventions. We have two chefs in
the family. I love the family atmosphere, great wine and its so relaxing.
You’re obviously into helping people maintain their wellbeing.
How do you stay happy and healthy?
Knowing when to say NO to food that does not serve you. If there is
chocolate or cake on the table, I won’t have it. Its empty calories and
loads of sugar. It has no positive benefit. Staying happy and healthy is
part of self honouring.
What’s your advice for healthy eating?
Loads of variety all the time. Forget calorie
counting, low fat, low carbs. We have so much
on offer in Australia, its sad to stick to steak
and three veg every night.
What can we do to avoid toxins?
Buy organic as much as you can, and as fresh
as you can. Drink alkaline water, and don’t
waste your money on bottle water. Don’t cook
on Teflon coated cookware.
The use of diet supplements is controversial; especially those
that promise a ‘detox’
What role do you think products like
Isagenix should take in our everyday diets?
Well, it’s really not a detox nor a diet. Isagenix is superfood, with the
main purpose to cleanse the body at a cellular level of impurities and
environmental damage that has accumulated in the body over time. Our
metabolism, hormonal system, digestive system, brain chemistry is all
supposed to work effectively on its own. The challenge is that we live
a fast paced, overstressed and undernourished lifestyle that our bodies’
filters or systems become clogged, and toxicity starts to set in. By giving
the body the appropriate nutrients, herbs, botanicals, minerals and
adaptogens, these systems clean out and as a result we gain abundant
energy, mental clarity and weight release as a side benefit.
What do you eat for a sneaky treat?
Oooh, confession time! Thai and a bottle of red wine!
And what are your plans for dinner tonight…
Eye fillet, seared, with grilled eggplant, capsicum and goats cheese.
